Common questions and answers about getting WristBuddy set up and working.

Setup

How do I install WristBuddy on my watch?

Apple Watch: install the iPhone app from the App Store. Open it once. The companion Watch app should auto-install within a few minutes via the iPhone Watch app. If it doesn’t, open the iPhone Watch app → My Watch → scroll to Wrist Buddy → toggle “Show App on Apple Watch” on.

Wear OS: install the phone app from Google Play. The Wear OS app pairs automatically through the Wear OS app on your phone. If it doesn’t auto-install, open the Wear OS app → Watch info → Apps → install Wrist Buddy.

Why does my Watch app show “Waiting on iPhone”?

The iPhone app needs to be opened at least once for the link to activate. Open Wrist Buddy on your iPhone (you don’t need to do anything inside — just opening it is enough), then tap Refresh on the Watch.

If it still doesn’t connect after 30 seconds, in the iPhone Watch app, toggle “Show App on Apple Watch” off, wait 10 seconds, and toggle it back on. Forces a clean re-install.

Some rows are missing from my Watch dashboard

Free version shows a subset of rows. Pro unlocks them all. If you’ve unlocked Pro and a row is still missing:

Pro purchases

How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new device?

My purchase didn’t unlock Pro

First, give it 30 seconds — App Store / Play Store verification sometimes takes a moment. Then:

  1. Close the app fully (swipe up from the multitasking switcher) and reopen.
  2. If still locked, tap Restore Purchases.
  3. If that doesn’t help, email us with your transaction ID (visible in your App Store / Play Store purchase history) and we’ll sort it out.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us — we never see your payment information. To request:

Apple’s policy is typically more flexible than Google’s. Either way, we can’t refund directly because we’re never charged or shown the original payment.

Common issues

Watch shows old data (“Updated 5 minutes ago”)

Tap Refresh on the Watch. If still stale:

Locator ring doesn’t work / iPhone doesn’t ring

On iOS:

  1. Open the iPhone Wrist Buddy app → More → Settings → Locator ring
  2. Ensure the Enable Locator Ring toggle is on
  3. iOS will ask for microphone permission the first time (used only to route the ring sound to the iPhone speaker — we never record audio)
  4. Test from the Watch’s orange “Ring iPhone (3× longer)” button

If permission is denied, the ring will still work but will play through whatever audio output iOS is currently using (headphones if connected), not the iPhone’s built-in speaker.

Find My Watch / buzz doesn’t work

The Watch must be reachable (worn, within Bluetooth range, screen lit or recently locked). If the Watch is sleeping or out of range, the buzz won’t fire. Try moving closer and tapping again.

“Beta” labels on Locator ring + Find My Watch

These features are fully functional but flagged as Beta because they’re newer than the rest of the dashboard and we want to set expectations that edge cases may still surface. They’ll lose the Beta label once we’ve gathered enough real-world signal that there are no remaining issues.
